Bosch 10.8V Litheon Tools - These Ain't No Kid Toys

litheon 10.8v

About a year ago Bosch Tools released their line of Litheon™ cordless tools.  The new line of power tools used lithium ion batteries which offer several advantages over traditional BLUECORE NiCad including more power, longer run time and consistent power during battery use. The 36v Bosch Brute tools were a no brainer, these were professional tools that addressed many issues for those who depended on their cordless tools to be working all day everyday.

But what about the line of 10.8V Litheon tools? Who are these tools for? Many people’s perception is these don’t look like serious tools, maybe something for the wife to hang pictures with… not the case. These are well built compact tools with serious power. The small size makes them much easier to carry and with perfect balance these are great to use in any position. The I-Driver PS10-2  has an even smaller profile and adjustable head for the hardest to reach spaces. The battery from the Pocket Driver™ PS20-2 last long enough to drive 100 3 inch screws and with a 30 minute charge time your second battery will be waiting for the next 100 screws.

As for the power check out the Impactor Fastening Driver PS40-2 which proves 60% more torque that traditional 18v drill/drivers at 800 in. lbs. of torque. All that power from about 1/3 size and weight makes these tools serious work horses, just with a smaller size.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact the professional staff at Ohio Power Tool and they will be happy to assist you in finding the right tool for the job.

New 35 lbs Demolition Tool of Choice - Bosch 11335K

Bosch 11335

Bosch has recently released a new 35lb Breaking Hammer which adds to their extensive line of demolition tools. The Bosch 11335K looks like traditional jack hammers but is incredible versatile. At 35 lbs and with multiple grip positions this tool is easy to operate in angled, horizontal or vertical applications.  Powered by a 1750 W motor and 34 ft lbs of impact force the 11335K has the highest removal rate in its class, up to 50% faster than most competition. Shock absorbing top handles have been added to reduce vibration up to 40% vs. competitors, providing uncompromising control and comfort for users.
A few additional Bosch demolition tools to consider would be Bosch SDS-Max 11245EVS which offers incredible breaking power in a compact design for heavy duty angled and horizontal applications. Another great breaker is the Bosch Bulldog 11255VSR is a Rotary Hammer Drill that offers a lot of demo tool for the price. Finally the Bosch Brute 11304, the standard in electric jack hammer equipment. Although this unit is rather heavy at 60+ lbs, limiting it to mostly vertical use, it plugs into any standard socket or generator which means it does not require a compressor. Metal Drilling with a Mag Drills - Hougen or Milwaukee

mag drill

There are many different models of portable magnetic drill presses available however Hougen’s line up shows some clear product advantages over the competition. In size, power, price and durability Hougen Mag Drills and their line of Rotabroach Annular Cutters are defiantly leaders in the industry.
The HMD925 may be one of the best Power Feed Drills on the market today. It weighs only 37 lbs, and is 16% lighter than competitive models. It has the capacity to drill holes to 1-1/4 diameter in power feed mode, up to 1-1/2 diameter in manual feed mode, and up to 2” deep using Rotabroach annular cutters.
Utilizing the latest developments in technology, the HMD925 incorporates smart circuitry, designed to monitor and automatically adjust the feed motor control, maintaining optimum performance throughout the cut while extending cutting tool life. The HMD925 comes complete with a coolant bottle and standard Hougen safety features. It's also priced less then popular competitive models.
If size is a concern there is probably no better or more portable mag drill to consider than the HMD150. The big brother to the HMD115, The HMD150 is small, powerful, and a has a full 1" depth of cut. The HMD150 is a fabricator's dream. It gets into tight spots with the low profile 7-13/16" height. Also it has the lift detection safety feature, eliminating safety switch adjustments. The HMD150 uses the Rotaloc PlusTM cutters from Hougen. They have a bayonet-style twist and lock shank for quick cutter changes. Rugged and full of power the HMD150 is great tool for construction and fabrication.
Milwaukee Tools also produces a line of portable magnetic drill presses that most closely rivals Hougen’s excellent line of products. While Milwaukee does not focus primarily on Metal Cutting as Hougen does, they do product a superior product when compared to the rest of the competition.
If you have any questions or would like to check out other portable magnetic drills available please visit www.OhioPowerTool.com and our expert staff would be more than happy to assist you. Don’t forget to ask about our wide variety of annular cutters, we will be happy to help you find the right tool for the job.

LEED Certified & Green Buildings: Sooner Rather Than Later

 Green Building

A very popular topic in the news recently has been environmentally friendly buildings and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for not only new buildings but existing buildings as well.
As more media attention is focused on these efforts a common question for almost any new build will be “Is it a green building?” and/or “Is it LEED certified?” As a large supplier of tools and equipment for the construction industry we are beginning to see what is coming down the pipe. As companies, especially the very public ones, build new spaces they are going to demand the construction be “Green” enough to meet the minimum LEED certification and they are going to want it at little or no additional costs. It is going to be increasingly important for builders and suppliers like us to be ever more conscious of this trend.
From our dealings with industry leaders it is clear not all LEED Certified Green Buildings are radically different from those constructed in past years. While some Platinum level buildings support solar panel roofs and wind turbines this is not required to obtain LEED certified status.
Many of the green products and materials are prices similar that of other products and work just as well. A good example of this would be switching cleaning and sanitation products to earn up to 13 LEED points in existing buildings. Visit Clean Innovations to learn more on that.
