Bosch SDS Bulldog 11224VSR Officially Retired

Bosch Bulldog 11224VSR

The Bosch SDS Bulldog 11224VSR has been the most popular rotary hammer drill for something like 20 years. When it originally came out it was a big leap forward in technology and with decades of abuse these hammers have proven themselves on the jobsite many times over. Since its launch (around the same time personal computers were catching on) technology has improved dramatically including the Bosch Bulldog 11255VSR ($199) and Bulldog Xtreme RH228VC ($259) as well as every other competitor’s hammer that has come onto the market, making the original Bulldog 11224VSR seem very under powered. While this is still a very popular model Bosch has made the call to give it the golden watch, thanked it for its years of service and now it is officially retired.

You of course can still find the 11224VSR all over the internet in closeout sales but in hopes of migrating their loyal bulldog fan base to the more powerful Bulldog models, Bosch has resorted to good old fashioned bribery. Both of the newer units qualify for this $25 Rebate if purchased from an official Bosch online dealer like Ohio Power Tool. This deal expires in at the end of the month (October 31, 2012).

Bulldog Rebate

To follow along with the Bulldog theme for their SDS-Plus tools Bosch has also renamed the SDS-Plus accessories such as drill bits, rebar cutters and chisels. The Bulldog carbide bits are the standard slotted carbide, and the more heavy duty full head carbide is now the Bulldog Xtreme carbide. The hammer chisels are also available in Bulldog and Bulldog Xtreme versions. For more questions about Bosch Tools and accessories give the guys at Ohio Power Tool a call at (800) 242-4424.
