For this competition we wanted to look at the Top 5 Professional Jobsite Table Saws available today and compare them on Safety, Accuracy, Ease of Use, Power and Value. We only selected units with folding wheeled stands integrated, we did not include any of the “Compact” table saw units that use the folding stands also we drew the line at the top 5 for our test, other good options to consider would be Hitachi, Ridgid and Delta which offer solid units at even lower price points.
With 5 great competitors in the running some of the rating really comes down to splitting hairs but that’s what we do. Also the big elephant in the room is the SawStop as it’s the only one on the market with “Flesh Detecting” technology. We are really going to look at the saws without putting much emphasis on that feature (No Hot Dogs Were Harmed in the making of this video) there have been dozens of videos & posts on that topic, it is an awesome feature we recommend for everyone but if you are still looking for a table saw we want to focus on the other features.
Bosch Table Saw with Stand 4100-09 ($549)
Dewalt Table Saw with Stand DWE7491RS ($549)
Makita Table Saw with Stand 2705X1 ($749)
SawStop Table Saw with Stand JSS-MCA ($1299)
SkilSaw Table Saw with Stand SPT99-12 ($499) (more…)

Last week was World of Concrete and if you’ve ever been to the show you know there is a ton to see! We are going to spend the next few days breaking down some of the top tool manufacturers starting with our friends at Bosch Power Tools. Some pretty exciting stuff coming in 2018 from Blue team including new lasers, GPS tracking on their tools and more cordless technology.
Outdoor Distance Measuring Laser GLM400 ($229) & GLM400CL ($299, Lithium Pack) these lasers are a first of their kind with a build in camera to see where that laser point is even in outdoor light and/or a further distances. Packed with features we expect these to be available late spring / early summer. (more…)

The battle of Red Laser Vs Green Laser rages on, clearly Green is easier to see with the human eye than Red but there are other factors that need to be considered, mainly cost and runtime. Good news is the cost on green lasers has come down dramatically so it is easier to build lasers such as the Bosch GLL 100 G ($229), the other good news is that Red Line Lasers continue to fall as well with some cheaper options even below $40 like the Bosch GLL 2. This certainly doesn’t make the decisions easier but good news is pretty much anyone can afford a laser level. Runtime is the other important consideration while Bosch does not give their specs, PLS does provide estimates of 35+ hours with PLS180 RED ($282) but only 2-6 hours with PLS180 GREEN ($479) which is probably very similar ratios across other brands.

The Bosch Colt Palm Router for the longest time was really the only trim router you would see out there, people loved it so much we started seeing all sorts of customer adaptations, mini router tables and other accessories people hand built or from 3rd party manufacturer’s. A few years back Makita and Dewalt jumped into game with palm routers with plunge bases and now we even have a 18V cordless versions from Ridgid and Makita XTR01 palm router. Not to be out-done Bosch has now revamped their classic Colt with the new GKF125CE ($129) adding more power with 1.25 HP motor (up from 1.0 HP) but also more control with Soft Start and Constant Response circuitry.
There is also a Kit version GKF125CEK ($139) which adds a straight guide and a case. For more info on the new Colt check out the full Bosch Press Release below. These units should be shipping early November and should be in high demand this Christmas season. Check out all the corded Bosch Routers unfortunately no word yet on an 18V cordless router unit… fingers crossed it will happen at some point. (more…)

GUEST POST – Dwain is one of the experts behind OZToolTalk, from Australia . You can find more of their video tool reviews on their Youtube Channel.
Bosch are making some waves this year, putting out some seriously premium 18v tools. Most importantly they have released their CORE batteries with greatly increased power ouput, enabling a host of more powerful 18v tools. These include their incredible new sabre saw GSA18V-125K, their 1″ Bulldog SDS GHB18V-26K and now their first brushless grinder, the GWS18V-125SC (note that is the European model number, may not be same in the US when released). Bosch claim it has the power of a 1,000W electric grinder when paired with a CORE battery!

Bosch has increased their cordless reciprocating saw range substantially over the last couple of years. From just a single (mediocre) 18V standard model, to compact, one-handed models in both 12V and 18V, and now the premium brushless GSA18V-125N.
