Milwaukee Tool 3/8” Socket Sets SAE & Metric

Milwauke 3/8 Socket Set

As Milwaukee Tool continues to expand upon their Hand Tool arsenal Chrome Socket Sets does seem like the next logical step. While these sockets sets are traditionally considered “mechanics tools” every electrician, plumber, HVAC, service tech and the list goes on, has a socket set in their bag or truck. Milwaukee’s new Contractor ratchet and socket sets, both SAE 48-22-9000 & Metric 48-22-9001 are designed for this market. The sets use a 3/8” ratchet with a pivoting head ideal for tight spaces and eight common deep sockets with some additional extensions/adapters. Priced at $69 each and should be here in April!   (more…)

Milwaukee Tool Framing Hammers Spring 2017

Milwaukee Framing Hammers

We have been waiting for many years for the Milwaukee Framing Hammers, ever since they acquired the premium Stiletto Hammer line it seemed like a logical way to expand their offering. Launching in April there will be 5 new hammers: two 17oz hammers 48-22-9016 milled face $39, 48-22-9017 smooth face $39, as well as two 22oz hammers 48-22-9022 milled face $35, 48-22-9023 smooth face $35 and final a poly/fiberglass 19oz hammer smooth face $29. There is a lot of technology that went into these hammers for great balance, vibration reduction, durable construction, nail setting magnet and of course trying to reduce the weight as much as possible. Easy Build Project – Kentucky Stick Chair

Kentucky Stick Chair Build

In our recent project, the Cordless Circular Saw Shootout, we had the opportunity to put 3 great circular saws to the test: the Milwaukee 2731-22 ($429), the Makita XSH01X ($419), and the Dewalt DCS575T2 ($355). In this test we wanted to rank the three in power, run-time and several other parameters which naturally involves lots of wood cutting. We built a simple jig to rip 2X4’s in half, so we could run all 3 of these saws in nice long rip cuts to gauge power and see if any might bog down (no bogging down with any of these saws). And of course, after our test we had plenty of freshly cut 2X2’s which can be useful for building book shelves or framing basements or any number of other projects but we already knew what to do with them, we were going to build a Kentucky Stick Chair.

Cordless Circular Saws – M18 vs FlexVolt vs Makita

Saws Dewalt v Makita v Milwaukee

The circular saw has been around for many years and offers many unique advantages. They are one of the most powerful handheld tools you can own for cutting, similar power to a small table saw but fits in your hands. Overall, they are easy to use, affordable, portable and practical for so many applications. In the days of NiCd battery technology they simply could not build a competitive pro grade circular saw to keep up with corded, however over the last several years, we’ve seen changes in cordless batteries with increased amps, performance, sizing, costs, etc. With the industry demanding longer lasting batteries and corded performance, we wanted to see how these cordless 7-1/4″ circular saws from the top professional brands would perform.

Milwaukee M18 Cordless Outdoor Tools Are Here!

We discovered last year at the 2016 Milwaukee New Product Symposium that Milwaukee was planning on taking a jab at the landscaping industry with 3 key tools that will operate off their M18 platform. Demand for noise and emission reduction in landscaping companies has really pressed the need for a gas alternative. Many residential users also find it beneficial to be able to fire up a cordless trimmer or blower that they may use for 10 minutes once a month rather than mixing fuel and starting a gas one. While similar brands such as DeWalt and Makita have entered this market already, the introduction of Milwaukee’s 9.0 Ah High Demand Battery has really opened the door for them to compete very well as far as power and run time.
