Jobsite Table Saw Showdown 2018

Table Saw Testing

For this competition we wanted to look at the Top 5 Professional Jobsite Table Saws available today and compare them on Safety, Accuracy, Ease of Use, Power and Value. We only selected units with folding wheeled stands integrated, we did not include any of the “Compact” table saw units that use the folding stands also we drew the line at the top 5 for our test, other good options to consider would be Hitachi, Ridgid and Delta which offer solid units at even lower price points.

Table Saws Comparison

With 5 great competitors in the running some of the rating really comes down to splitting hairs but that’s what we do. Also the big elephant in the room is the SawStop as it’s the only one on the market with “Flesh Detecting” technology. We are really going to look at the saws without putting much emphasis on that feature (No Hot Dogs Were Harmed in the making of this video) there have been dozens of videos & posts on that topic, it is an awesome feature we recommend for everyone but if you are still looking for a table saw we want to focus on the other features.

Bosch Table Saw with Stand 4100-09 ($549)
Dewalt Table Saw with Stand DWE7491RS ($549)
Makita Table Saw with Stand 2705X1 ($749)
SawStop Table Saw with Stand JSS-MCA ($1299)
SkilSaw Table Saw with Stand SPT99-12 ($499) (more…)

SawStop Acquired by Festool Parent Tooltechnic

Festool Acquires SawStop

You may be asking yourself like we are, if SawStop was up for sales why oh why didn’t Bosch Tools simply buy them out when they were in a loosing legal battle over the REAXX saw which they are now forced to mothball the entire line. We can’t answer that one… Anyway it looks as though SawStop will now join forces with Festool under the parent company Tooltechnic Systems, we will update you soon on what that means for the future of the line but it should be a very smart alliance for SawStop. See the press release below:  (more…)

SawStop Router Tables & New Saw Options

SawStop Coming Soon

We always wondered how SawStop might expand upon their brand, we all first got introduced to them for their innovative safety feature that prevents table saw injuries. Overtime however people have come to associate SawStop Saws not just as a safety feature, but for very high quality professional table saws. Already they have expanded to every type of table saw market from large industrial saws to the portable jobsite table saw JSS-MCA, which after a quick bout of competition is again the only portable table saw option with a flesh detecting technology. So where can they expand from here? (more…)

Donald J Trump can Save the Bosch Reaxx Saw

The Bosch Reaxx Saw has been ruled against in the International Trade Commission (ITC) case disputing patent issues with SawStop and the only one who can overturn the ruling is Donald J Trump himself (let him know what you think #TrumpREAXX). He has 60 days to review the case and veto this exclusion order. It’s in his hands now… but it’s not looking good. (more…)

SawStop Wins Lawsuit with Bosch Reaxx Saw

Sawstop Wins Lawsuit

A few months back there was a bit of a premature back and forth between Bosch and SawStop however it looks as though SawStop was accurate in their early celebration. As the January 27th ruling is that Bosch must “Cease and Desist from conducting any of the following activities in the United States: importing, selling, marketing, advertising, distributing, transferring (except for exportation), and soliciting United States agents or distributors for imported [Reaxx] table saws.” (more…)

Holidays for the Pros 2017 Coptool Gift Guide

Holiday for the pros 2017

Every holiday season it seems like the big boxes put serious pressure on all the name brand Power Tool guys to make the cheapest possible cordless tool kits and accessory bundles to hit their price points. They’ll pack them with older SKUs or lower amp batteries or throw in stuff that doesn’t always make sense all in an effort to show a “better deal” often targeting consumers that might not know the difference. We thought we’d take a different approach to find deals that make sense for PROFESSIONALS who know their stuff, to find the best deals on the latest and greatest stuff at all price levels. Use Coupon Code = GIFTGUIDE at Ohio Power Tool to receive Free Shipping on any of these specific items!! (more…)

Bosch Reaxx Strikes Back on Current SawStop Lawsuit

Lawsuit Sawstop vs Bosch

“Patent legal action is far from over” is how the Bosch Press Release below starts. The case is not expected to be over until January 2017 and the “initial determination” still has to undergo review and additional arguments from the parties. When we reported the information from SawStop’s Press Release earlier this week it admittedly sounded very much like judgement had been made and all that was left was to determine the punishment. That is not the case and we would agree with Bosch here, it was definitely a misleading press release. (more…)

Judge Finds Bosch Reaxx Saw Infringes SawStop Patent

SawStop vs Bosch Reaxx

*** 9/15/16 Update – Bosch’s response to the below SawStop Press Release

SawStop just published a press release on Business Wire (see below) announcing that the Judge Thomas B. Pender has confirmed (at least the “Initial Determination”) that the Bosch Reaxx Saw has infringed the SawStop Patent. What does that mean for the Bosch Reaxx Saw, it is unclear at this point, but SawStop is asking ITC to exclude Bosch from bringing the saw into the US, including all parts and cartridges. This certainly looks like SawStop is one step closer to the Bosch Reaxx being dead in the water. If that is the case we would fully expect Bosch Tools to make good on products they have released.

If you are looking for a safer table saw with flesh detecting technology it looks like the SawStop Table Saws maybe the only option for the foreseeable future. Good news is they offer a full range of table saws from jobsite saws to large industrial saws.

Our friends at Pro Tool Reviews just did a nice comparison on the Bosch Reaxx and SawStop jobsite saws.

Battle for Safer Jobsite Table Saws – Bosch Reaxx vs SawStop

Bosch Reaxx Saw

It was well over a year ago we first heard Bosch Reaxx Jobsite Table Saw GTS1041A-09 ($1499) would be hitting the market to compete with the SawStop Jobsite Table Saw JSS-MCA ($1299, + $100 w/shipping) which had, at the time, just hit the market. Well it looks like the day is soon at hand as Bosch is promising to deliver these new saws starting June 1 (you can pre-orders now), despite the active lawsuit with SawStop. We want to look at pros and cons raised by both sides and hopefully get a better idea how these two saws stack up! (more…)

SawStop Sues Bosch Over REAXX Table Saw

Timing falls just days before the largest national Woodworking Shows AWFS, July 22nd-25th where both companies will most likely be displaying their latest products to dealers and professionals alike.
