The Dewalt ToughSystem storage system has been out a few years now and has found a solid fan base among professionals. Dewalt has partnered with Home Depot exclusively on the DCKTS291D1M1 ($269, Home Depot) kit which packages their most popular 20V brushless DCD991 drill/driver and the 20v brushless DCF887 impact into essentially a DS130 ToughSystem case. At that price point it makes it very enticing for those looking to get into either Dewalt 20V and/or the ToughSystem. We did a quick look at what’s included in the actual kit as well as some of the other components of their storage system.
In addition to this prepackaged 20v kit if you add the Base Storage Large Box / Cart DS450 ($69, Home Depot) you’ve got a basic, pretty nice setup for relatively low cost. The wall system also looks like a good option for some if you are in and out of the shop with your tools.
We are excited to see the options for these systems grow, extremely popular in Europe for decades but in the past they always seemed to have too high of a stick price for US, now it seems like we are coming around to the value of good tool organization and there are much better price point options out there. In the future we hope to see more tools come prepacked like this.
The red team will be launching their storage system later this year so we will be very interested to see how these stack up in terms of performance as the Milwaukee PACKOUT will launch at a higher price point.
