Milwaukee has introduced a specially designed Sawzall blade specifically designed for the frustrations involved in ductwork take-offs. The Milwaukee Ductwork Sawzall Blade 48-00-1630 features a uniquely shaped point that suits them for jabbing into and through sheet metal. A specifically designed tooth/grit that provides long life and accurate cuts in ductwork, and a small length for tight radius cuts and optimal control over where the other end of your blade is ending up.

This seems to continue the trend I’ve been seeing with Milwaukee of making specialized tools for specialized applications. I have to say that I like these blades for two reasons. First, there is something very satisfying about having the right tool for the job. Feeling like I have the right tool for the job and hitting a screwdriver with a hammer do not usually go hand-in-hand. Even if I was using a power drill to drill the hole to get it started and then finishing with the tin snips, I would still probably look wistfully at my Hackzall and  how much easier it would be to  cut the hole with it. Secondly, as far as a specialized tool goes, this is not much of an investment. If you know you are going to be working with some ductwork in the near future, a measly $14 investment gets you five blades specifically engineered for the job (providing you already have a Sawzall or other reciprocating saw). Milwaukee made a video about how great these blades are, and you can watch it below.
