The Milwaukee M12 HammerVac’s March release seeks to solve a problem that exists in the realm of dust extracting in drilling applications. While many tool brands have a vacuum/hammer drill combo, it only works with a specific drill or in a specific way. The Milwaukee M12 HammerVac 2306-22 is designed to be compatible with most existing SDS rotary hammers and corded and cordless hammer drills.
The M12 HammerVac incorporates a HEPA-certified filtration system that decreases worker exposure to silica dust and makes any drill compatible with food service, healthcare, and high sensitivity manufacturing environments. At the same time, it has lowest-in-class filter replacement costs and does not require you to purchase a different hammer (unless you are upgrading to a Milwaukee 5363-21 or 2605-22). The low cost of filter replacement is in part due to the fact that you can replace the filter without replacing the entire dust box.
To achieve this compatibility with all the different makes and models of hammers the M12 HammerVac comes complete with three different sizes of adjustable collars. These collars can then be attached to snugly fit tools of nearly any size. On top of all that, the three position switch includes an automatic turn-on feature, which starts the vacuum when drilling and stops it a few seconds after the drill is removed from the work surface. This allows any of the dust that is pulled out with the drill to still get vacuumed up even while using the auto-on feature.
The M12 HammerVac runs on its own independent power source, meaning it can be sued with cordless or corded tools and is a welcome addition to the M12 product line. It can drill up to 75 holes before the dust box needs emptied, and can drill up to 160 holes on a single battery charge. Weighting in at a miniscule 3.3 lbs., the M12 HammerVac can be positioned in a variety of manners on the tools, allowing for flexibility in tight spaces or simply different positions for different worker preferences.

To achieve compatibility with as many tools as possible, the new HAMMERVAC™ comes with three sizes of side handle collars that the user can adjust to fit the tool securely. For further versatility on the jobsite, the tool also features a 3-Position switch. In addition to “on” and “off”, the user can switch the tool to “auto-on” to turn the HammerVAC™ on and off automatically when drilling.
Per strict HEPA standards, the certified HEPA filter will remove 99.97% of particles greater than 0.3 µm. However, unique to the Milwaukee unit, the M12™ HAMMERVAC™ features a replaceable filter so that the user can replace the filter independently of the dust box to cost-effectively maintain suction efficiency.
