Milwaukee One-Key with LoJack Style Tracking for Stolen Tools

Milwaukee One-Key Tool Tracking

Over the weekend Milwaukee Tool posted this teaser on their Facebook Page which promises the ability to locate M18 ONE-KEY enabled tools (tools now available) on a map and this One-Key software updates would be coming in March. Basically these features will be added to any One-Key tool (free of course) just update the One-Key app. Naturally people started firing off questions and by reading the full string some of those questions were answer. Here are the basic questions and what we can gather so far:

Q: What kind of technology does the tracking use to locate the tool?
A:
One-Key tool tracking works off the GPS system in your mobile device.

Q: If the tracking works off a Phone’s GPS will it still work when it’s not near your phone?
A: Yes, it’ll continue to update the location, they’ve got “magic up their sleeves” (to be reveled March 2016)

Q: If stolen and the battery is removed can the tool still be tracked?
A: Yes One-Key will still update the location even when the battery is removed.

Milwaukee One-Key Location Tracking

We are reminded on the Plot to Batman “The Dark Knight” where Batman was able to create sonar vision by pinging every cellular signal off each other to see all over Gothem. Not saying this is what Milwaukee is using but Morgan Freeman very clearly warns this power is too great and destroys the technology at the end of the movie. We hope whatever the solution the Milwaukee One-Key Team has come up with it was cleared by Morgan Freeman himself, we’d hate to see this technology fall into the wrong hands.
