Recently announced Ridgid has come out with their largest drain cleaning water jetter yet. The KJ-3100 ($5669, Ohio Power Tool) can handle up to 10” lines at 5.5 gallons-per-minute. This is slightly larger than the existing KJ-3000 which is rated to handle up to 8” lines at 4.5 gallons-per-minute. Both units are powered by Honda gas engines but the new KJ-3100 gets a bump up to 16hp from 13hp that is on the KJ-3100. It seemed like an obvious next step as people were looking for more power, but the units remain relatively easy to maneuver through doorways and load on a truck which is key. ELYRIA, OHIO – The RIDGID® KJ-3100 water jetter offers professional power and performance to clear blockages in 2- to 10-inch diameter drains with a full 3,000-psi working pressure, and a 5 1/2 gallons-per-minute flow.
Powered by a 16-horsepower gasoline engine, the KJ-3100 water jetter allows the user to reach the most remote or restricted-access drains easily. Designed for easy maneuvering, the modular RIDGID KJ-3100 is mounted on a heavy-duty, two-wheeled cart that easily fits through standard sized doors and negotiates tight turns. The design also features easy accessibility to the gas tank allowing the user to refuel without removing the reel.
“We responded to end users’ feedback requesting a water jetter that provides more gallons per minute capacity,” said Brian Mitchell, product manager, RIDGID. “With 5 1/2 gallons of flow, the KJ-3100 water jetter answers those demands.”
The removable hose reel quickly detaches from the unit’s cart for easy loading into service vehicles. The jetter hose is 200-feet in length with a 3/8-inch inner diameter. The detachable hose reel also permits easy access to hard-to-reach drains and indoor drains. To simplify negotiating line bends and traps, the KJ-3100 features the RIDGID pulse action, a pulsing action of the jetter stream that allows the cleaning head and hose to easily and quickly maneuver through traps and bends in the line.
The KJ-3100 jetter’s high-pressure pump is a triplex design with a corrosion-resistant brass head. The brass head is forged, not cast, for added strength and durability. The KJ-3100 comes with a propulsion nozzle that helps to carry the hose quickly through pipes to obstructions, and a penetrating nozzle to cut through ice and sludge.
