Southwire’s new line of hand tools feature hot rivet technology, which is the process of joining pliers using induction heating as opposed to a traditional cold rivet. Hot riveting allows for better, flush joining of the two pliers pieces and the rivet. Hot riveting allows for a longer, smooth action in opening and closing plier handles. All of the USA made pliers are hand filed and tested. After forging and processing, each plier is filed down to a precise angle. Southwire’s pliers are thoroughly inspected and tested for heavy duty cutting capabilities.

Southwire also incorporates a process called drop forging, which is the process of forming metal from red hot steel using a manual or hydraulic press. Drop forging is superior to other methods of plier manufacturing due to the pressing process, eliminating in flaws such as fissures and air bubbles. In the end, this process makes a higher quality tool!

Another benefit to these tools, is the induction hardened blades. In order to achieve the optimal level of hardness and durability, their cutting surfaces are heat treated and quenched. This ensures a heavy duty, ling lasting cutting surface.
