A couple years ago we did the 2015 Recip Saw Shootout which was sort of a no contest because at the time Milwaukee was the only tool company that had a brushless recip saw. Naturally the only brushless saw won going against 4 brushed saws and we got accused of being on the Milwaukee Tool payroll. A few years later now that most of the other brands have brushless options its well proven brushless options outperform their brushed counterparts, Milwaukee was just well ahead of the curve in 2015. It’s now 2017 however so we’ve got new batteries and 5 new saws!
Last year was Metabo’s 50th anniversary so they came out with special edition 4-1/2” & 6” grinders with gold trim and some extra wheels in packaging. Well it’s no longer their 50th anniversary year while the 6” gold grinders are all gone you can pick up the few remaining Metabo Gold 4-1/2” Grinders for a steal at $99!!! That’s a huge savings, over 30% for a typical WP9-115 Quick, won’t last long!

We always wondered how SawStop might expand upon their brand, we all first got introduced to them for their innovative safety feature that prevents table saw injuries. Overtime however people have come to associate SawStop Saws not just as a safety feature, but for very high quality professional table saws. Already they have expanded to every type of table saw market from large industrial saws to the portable jobsite table saw JSS-MCA, which after a quick bout of competition is again the only portable table saw option with a flesh detecting technology. So where can they expand from here? Continue reading →
When you or your workers are up in the air working at a height, it is imperative to ensure not only that you use fall protection equipment, but that you use the right fall protection equipment. While Metabo does not yet have a very large market share for cordless tools in the US they have been extremely aggressive on cordless product development globally. They were first to launch 5.0Ah several years back, then first to use new 20700 cells with LiHD batteries and now first to launch a 7.0Ah (sneek peak from Metabo Germany info)! Next month Coptool will be headed to visit the Metabo home office to get hand-on time with some of the new tools and technology. There are some interesting new Metabo Cordless Tools in the video below (hedge trimmers, rotary drills, etc) but will they make it to the US? Certainly there will be some exciting things to come, stay tuned.
Most importantly how do we get our hands on the giant Metabo Battery Scooter!!!
