The Dewalt ToughSystem storage system has been out a few years now and has found a solid fan base among professionals. We did a quick look at what’s included in the actual kit as well as some of the other components of their storage system. Continue reading →
The US population is made up of by roughly 13% left-handers but blade left saws are not exclusively just for them. Skilsaw was made popular because of the incredibly tough and powerful worm-drive saws which are all predominantly blade left designs. Many righties love the Worm-drive design as well, personally I am a lefty and do prefer the left handed saw configuration. The new Skilsaw Sidewinder Southpaw SPT67M8($129) is an all magnesium 15amp direct drive circular saw with all the premium features you’d expect from a high end corded circular saw.

Milwaukee recently announced that they will be releasing several new dust extraction tools and accessories to support their growing dust collection line in preparation for the increasing OSHA regulations. These attachments will work in conjunction with Milwaukee’s existing line of rotary hammers and grinders to be compliant under the upcoming regulations for silica dust control. The New OSHA regulations, set to be effective September 23rd 2017, are a major step forward in keeping jobsites safe and preventing workplace related danger and illnesses due to airborne silica. This being said, it is very important for tool manufacturers to stay ahead of the curve with their concrete tools, accessories and overall technology, or get left in the dust.
One of the most common topics for safety questions and concerns we hear about is respirator use and what is required for fit testing. Certainly breathing in dangerous materials is a big concern for safety and an area OSHA has a lot of focus (Respiratory Protection Standard 29 CFR 1910.134). You can find yourself with serious fines if not properly addressed and that’ll only increase with the impending OSHA Silica Rules 9/23/17. To get a better understanding for ourselves we have again asked out friends at SAFEX for some assistance to understand more about respirators, fit testing, who is required to get them and what is involved in doing the tests.
While at the 2017 New Product Symposium this year, we saw some pretty impressive innovations in plumbing tools and technology from Milwaukee. Milwaukee has made some game-changing improvements on some of their existing plumbing tools, but also introduced some industry-first tools that have never been seen before. They have made an impressive step forward for M12 Drain Cleaning & M18 Drain Cleaning. We are very excited to see how these new tools we saw perform against the current competition.

For the first time in company history, the folks at Southwire Tool’s & Equipment, invited tool reviewers to visit their corporate headquarters in Carrollton, Georgia. It was an eventful week, which proved their innovative thinking and understanding of the consumer in developing cutting edge products. While thinking Southwire was just a manufacturer who pioneer’s ground-breaking technology, we learned they pride themselves more on giving back and investing in the community. Continue reading →
You may be asking yourself like we are, if SawStop was up for sales why oh why didn’t Bosch Tools simply buy them out when they were in a loosing legal battle over the REAXX saw which they are now forced to mothball the entire line. We can’t answer that one… Anyway it looks as though SawStop will now join forces with Festool under the parent company Tooltechnic Systems, we will update you soon on what that means for the future of the line but it should be a very smart alliance for SawStop.
