SKILSAW New Metal Saws & Worm Drive Table Saw

Worm Drive Metal Saw

The SKIL brand has a heritage of making quality tools and at the center of that has always been circular saws. In recent years the SKIL brand has struggled to send a clear message to consumers with pro quality circular saws but also getting into consumer grade cordless and other tools really not intended for pro use. The SKILSAW brand breaking away from the rest of SKIL Tools along with the launch of some new pretty sweet saws like the 10-1/4” Sawsquatch ($449) and partnership with Freud Diablo blades (Both Bosch Brands) has helped bring the SKILSAW name back into the conversation for professional users.

Skil Wormdrive Tablesaw

To build on the SKILSAW brand aimed at professionals we will be seeing 4 new professional saws which we hope to get our hands on at STAFDA in two weeks and on shelves by March 2016. SKILSAW is building on their bread and butter worm drive platform with the first ever portable 10” Table Saw with worm drive motor SPT70WT-22 ($379), which should be able to easily outperform other compact portable table saws. Looks pretty similar to the Bosch Compact GTS1031 ($379) which is a very nice table saw as well, put a powerful worm drive motor in it and this could be a winner.

SKILSAW is also launching 3 new metal cutting saws, starting with an 8” Metal Saw SPT78MMC-22 ($319) which you guessed it will feature the powerful worm drive motor and will go right after the popular Milwaukee 8” Metal Saw 6370-21 ($299). SKILSAW will also launch an abrasive 14” Chop Saw SPT64MTA-01 ($169) and a 12” Dry-Cut Chop Saw SPT78MMC-22 ($429, includes Freud Diablo 12”Blade). We think they may have missed a big opportunity for a 14” Dry-Cut Chop Saw but hopefully that’ll be coming at some point down the road as well.
