The Milwaukee M18 Rocket Tower Is Also a Charger

The new Milwaukee M18 Tower Light has integrated AC Power and charges batteries.

The older Milwaukee M18 Stand light was a reasonable success, largely due to its runtime, brightness, and the fact that it collapsed down into an easily transportable package quickly and without tools. In September of 2016, Milwaukee will be launching their update to this product with a couple of key feature changes.

The new Milwaukee Rocket M18 Stand light will have a multi-directional head, targeted at replacing the dual head 500 W halogen lights that have been a jobsite staple for as long as I’ve been alive. 3 adjustable light head make this light suitable for both task and area lighting, and the high quality Miwlaukee Trueview light ensures you are seeing colors without the orange or blue glow from halogen or traditional LED lights.

Also, the light has integrated AC power, so it can be run cordless or corded, and an integrated AC charger, so it charges your batteries while it is running with an alternate power supply. The charger was a feature that was missing in the original that left a lot of users scratching their heads, so it is good to see that Milwaukee is willing and able to revise a product so quickly to meet the demands of their customers. This is the first product in the Milwaukee lighting family that charges, and it features a color changing light in the base that alerts the user when using battery vs. AC power.

The light has 3,000 Lumens of output, and has reinforced, impact resistant legs that can withstand the abuse of the jobsite. The entire tool weighs less than 20 lbs. without the battery, so it is easy to carry around the jobsite, especially when it’s collapsed.  Expect a price point around $400 for a bare tool, and availability in the fall of 2016.
