The Steel Hawg® Milwaukee Annular Cutters were recently added to steel cutters on Ohio Power Tool. These carbide tipped steel drills offer a full 2 inch cutting depth which can be achieved with this style Milwaukee carbide tipped Steel Hawg® Annular Cutter. Like other cutters, these cutter removes material three times faster than twist drill bits and leaves a smooth, precision machined hole. They can be used on steel, stainless steel, cast iron or aluminum. A threaded back end allows the user to choose which style arbor fits their electro magnetic drill stand. These annular cutters are available in sizes up to an impressive 6 inch diameter.
About a year ago Bosch Tools released their line of Litheon™ cordless tools. The new line of power tools used lithium ion batteries which offer several advantages over traditional BLUECORE NiCad including more power, longer run time and consistent power during battery use. The 36v Bosch Brute tools were a no brainer, these were professional tools that addressed many issues for those who depended on their cordless tools to be working all day everyday.
But what about the line of 10.8V Litheon tools? Who are these tools for? Many people’s perception is these don’t look like serious tools, maybe something for the wife to hang pictures with… not the case. These are well built compact tools with serious power. The small size makes them much easier to carry and with perfect balance these are great to use in any position. The I-Driver PS10-2 has an even smaller profile and adjustable head for the hardest to reach spaces. The battery from the Pocket Driver™ PS20-2 last long enough to drive 100 3 inch screws and with a 30 minute charge time your second battery will be waiting for the next 100 screws.
As for the power check out the Impactor Fastening Driver PS40-2 which proves 60% more torque that traditional 18v drill/drivers at 800 in. lbs. of torque. All that power from about 1/3 size and weight makes these tools serious work horses, just with a smaller size.

Bosch has recently released a new 35lb Breaking Hammer which adds to their extensive line of demolition tools. The Bosch 11335K looks like traditional jack hammers but is incredible versatile. At 35 lbs and with multiple grip positions this tool is easy to operate in angled, horizontal or vertical applications. Powered by a 1750 W motor and 34 ft lbs of impact force the 11335K has the highest removal rate in its class, up to 50% faster than most competition. Shock absorbing top handles have been added to reduce vibration up to 40% vs. competitors, providing uncompromising control and comfort for users.
A few additional Bosch demolition tools to consider would be Bosch SDS-Max 11245EVS which offers incredible breaking power in a compact design for heavy duty angled and horizontal applications. Another great breaker is the Bosch Bulldog 11255VSR is a Rotary Hammer Drill that offers a lot of demo tool for the price. Finally the Bosch Brute 11304, the standard in electric jack hammer equipment. Although this unit is rather heavy at 60+ lbs, limiting it to mostly vertical use, it plugs into any standard socket or generator which means it does not require a compressor. There are many different models of portable magnetic drill presses available however Hougen’s line up shows some clear product advantages over the competition. In size, power, price and durability Hougen Mag Drills and their line of Rotabroach Annular Cutters are defiantly leaders in the industry.
The HMD925 may be one of the best Power Feed Drills on the market today. It weighs only 37 lbs, and is 16% lighter than competitive models. It has the capacity to drill holes to 1-1/4 diameter in power feed mode, up to 1-1/2 diameter in manual feed mode, and up to 2” deep using Rotabroach annular cutters.
Utilizing the latest developments in technology, the HMD925 incorporates smart circuitry, designed to monitor and automatically adjust the feed motor control, maintaining optimum performance throughout the cut while extending cutting tool life. The HMD925 comes complete with a coolant bottle and standard Hougen safety features. It’s also priced less then popular competitive models.
If size is a concern there is probably no better or more portable mag drill to consider than the HMD150. The big brother to the HMD115, The HMD150 is small, powerful, and a has a full 1" depth of cut. The HMD150 is a fabricator’s dream. It gets into tight spots with the low profile 7-13/16" height. Also it has the lift detection safety feature, eliminating safety switch adjustments. The HMD150 uses the Rotaloc PlusTM cutters from Hougen. They have a bayonet-style twist and lock shank for quick cutter changes. Rugged and full of power the HMD150 is great tool for construction and fabrication.
Milwaukee Tools also produces a line of portable magnetic drill presses that most closely rivals Hougen’s excellent line of products. While Milwaukee does not focus primarily on Metal Cutting as Hougen does, they do product a superior product when compared to the rest of the competition.

A very popular topic in the news recently has been environmentally friendly buildings and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for not only new buildings but existing buildings as well.
As more media attention is focused on these efforts a common question for almost any new build will be “Is it a green building?” and/or “Is it LEED certified?” As a large supplier of tools and equipment for the construction industry we are beginning to see what is coming down the pipe. As companies, especially the very public ones, build new spaces they are going to demand the construction be “Green” enough to meet the minimum LEED certification and they are going to want it at little or no additional costs. It is going to be increasingly important for builders and suppliers like us to be ever more conscious of this trend.
From our dealings with industry leaders it is clear not all LEED Certified Green Buildings are radically different from those constructed in past years. While some Platinum level buildings support solar panel roofs and wind turbines this is not required to obtain LEED certified status.
Many of the green products and materials are prices similar that of other products and work just as well. A good example of this would be switching cleaning and sanitation products to earn up to 13 LEED points in existing buildings. Visit Clean Innovations to learn more on that.

Featuring patented IQv technology, the IQv Series is comprised of a broad range of cordless tools, including the compact W040 1/4" quick-change Impactool, the versatile W150 3/8" Impactool and the powerful W360 1/2" Impactool. IQv Series tools also include two best-in-class drill / drivers the 19.2-volt D650 and 14.4-volt D550.
IQv technology was designed to deliver improved performance and longevity of cordless tools and batteries, said Christian Corrigan, global marketing manager at Ingersoll Rand Productivity Solutions. For the customer, this means cordless tools that are lighter and more powerful, and batteries that require significantly fewer replacements over the life of the tool.
Since 1934, when Ingersoll Rand developed the first pneumatic impact wrench, engineering expertise has focused on building durable impact mechanisms and geartrains to maximize power for reliable tool operation.
The IQv Series cordless tools combine the same precision engineering with efficient battery technology to provide the best power per volt available. This means that more power is generated from smaller, lighter and lower voltage batteries. When compared to leading competitive brands, the IQv Series cordless tools have up to 110 percent better power-to-weight ratios and provide up to 40 percent better maximum reverse torque.
Industrial-grade Tool Durability
In addition to power, the new cordless tools match shop / plant requirements with industrial-grade engineering for tough, heavy-duty jobs. All IQv Series cordless tools are engineered with composite housings to deliver maximum structural strength with minimum weight.
The composite housings protect against damaging chemicals and fluids common in shop or plant environments and are reinforced with a patented metal design that provides extra strength for excellent drop resistance.
We spent a lot of time trying to understand both our customers and competitors in order to build the best cordless tools available, said Corrigan. In developing the IQv Series tools, we looked at products and programs that would change the way cordless tools are perceived and provide real value for our customers.
Ingersoll Rand IQv Series cordless tools utilize a new battery interface to lock the battery securely in place. With competitive designs, batteries can be difficult to use and even fall out when mounts and clips become damaged. The new line of cordless tools employs the IQv Grip, a patent-pending twist-to-lock design that grips the battery into the tool, providing superior holding strength.
Revolutionary Battery Technology
To support the new line of tools, Ingersoll Rand partnered with global leaders in electronics and battery technologies to produce the IQv cordless power system, delivering the most advanced battery technology available. IQv technology makes it possible to have one charger that charges all voltages and chemistries, including nickel-cadmium and lithium-ion batteries from 7.2-volts to 19.2-volts.
IQv technology gives cordless tool systems intelligence not found in typical systems, said Corrigan. The ability for batteries and chargers to communicate opens the door for dramatically improved performance, longevity and compatibility.
The IQv charger automatically detects battery voltage and chemistry and chooses the correct charge algorithm. By reading the battery, the charger can optimize its charge to improve performance and longevity. The chargers renew feature deep cycle restores the battery to like-new condition and calibrates onboard battery electronics. For nickel-cadmium batteries, the renew feature eliminates memory effect, extending the usable battery life up to five times and significantly decreasing the number of replacement batteries over the life of the tool.
Commitment to Customer Satisfaction
Ingersoll Rand backs IQV Series cordless tools with the industry-leading IQV Warranty with registration. This includes a one-year, hassle-free tool and charger replacement; a two-year or 1,000 charges limited battery warranty; and a three-year limited warranty on tool and charger.
We realize that our customers are professionals who need their tools to do their jobs, said Corrigan. The IQv Warranty is a way for us to share our confidence in the quality of our products and make sure we keep our customers satisfied.
IQv Series cordless tools also offer convenience and savings. Unlike standard cordless combo kits, Ingersoll Rand offers the IQv Series cordless tools individually. Users may choose from an extensive line of cordless tools, batteries and accessories, buying only what is needed, which can dramatically reduce the cost of ownership.
Ingersoll Rand Industrial Technologies provides products, services and solutions to enhance the efficiency and productivity of our commercial, industrial and process customers. Our innovative products include air compressors, air systems components, tools, pumps, material and fluid handling systems and microturbines.
MILWAUKEE, WI – Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation introduces ICE EDGE
A new generation of reciprocating saw blades specifically designed to handle even the toughest metal
cutting applications that HVAC, automotive, plumbing or maintenance/repair tradesmen demand.
Featuring a bi-metal construction with 8% cobalt, ICE EDGE blades are flexible to prevent shock, fatigue and shattering. The completely redesigned blade optimizes metal cutting
with precision-ground teeth and a radiused back face that increases tooth strength, resulting in faster cuts and longer blade life. The positive rake on the cutting edges removes chips aggressively, and deeper gullets help keep the cut clear and cool to ensure optimal heat resistance.
Milwaukee’s cryogenic heat treat process induces a permanent change in the microstructure of the high-speed steel cutting edge, and because it penetrates to the full depth of the blades, this treatment improves the hardness, wear resistance and dimensional stability of each blade.
• Cryogenic heat treat process improves hardness and wear resistance
• Precision-ground teeth for optimized metal cutting
