The Ingersoll Rand 2135TiMax ($269) has been the king of ½” impact guns for some time. With an operating weight of 3.95 lbs and max torque of 780 ft lbs the gun has the highest power to weight in its class. Chicago Pneumatic, looking to steal some of the business, is introducing a new ½” impact gun that will rival the Ingersoll Rand with the CP7749. The gun features some advances in design including a one hand forward and reverse control, easier to use by the trigger. The gun is also quieter at 95 dBA as well as a slightly lower investment for the CP7749 ($246). The Chicago Pneumatic gun does however weight a few ounces more at 4.37 lbs and only products 725 ft lbs torque. The CP marketing suggests this number is “true honest torque” which may be a shot at how others rate their torque.
No matter how you think this gun stacks up to the Ingersoll Rand the new Chicago Pneumatic is an awesome gun with some cool new features. “You’re going to sell a million of these!” – Rich Evans, builder, designer and owner of Huntington Beach Bodyworks, immediately following his first application test with the CP7749.The gun will be available soon and you can pre-order yours now. If you would like more info on the CP7749 checkout this Spec Flyer or contact the pros at Ohio Power Tool, 800-242-4424 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

A short time ago Ingersoll Rand released the 2115TiMAX an updated version to the incredibly popular 2115Ti. In the tradition of the 2135TiMAX, market leader ½” impact, the new 2115TiMAX redefined the 3/8” impact category by setting the bar even higher for “power-to-weight” and “power-to-size”. With 300 ft-lbs of torque in a titanium body weighing less than 2.5 lbs and shorter than 6” it will be near impossible for any other impact to improve upon this design.
So what changed for the new 2115TiMAX vs. 2115Ti? The new tool features an improved air flow system with 7-vane design, over the previous 6-vane design. The improved air flow also increases total power to 300 ft-lbs of reverse torque, about a 10% improvement. In addition the tool also gets new power controls, more ergonomic handle and new feather trigger.
“The new 2115TiMAX is the perfect blend of power and size, but we didn’t stop there,” said Mike Walker, vehicle channel business manager for Ingersoll Rand. “Technicians asked for a tool that was easy to handle and could stand up to frequent use on stubborn bolts. Once again our industry leading engineers were up to the challenge improving the feather touch trigger, enhancing the settings on the power regulator and improving the overall durability of the tool components. We’re confident technicians will find this tool suitable to use as their primary pneumatic impact wrench.”
We couldn’t be happier with these design improvements; I can’t wait to see what is next. Of course all the IR tools are backed by a free extended two-year limited warranty, available with registration of the tool online at www.irtools.com/warranty.

For those of you that might be in or around Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, October 22nd I would like to invite you to Ohio Power Tool for the Annual Tent Sale & Tool Expo. All of these new tools will be at the show ready for you to demo, so if you want to try out the new Dremel Multi-Max or anything else come on down. Each vendor will be there in full force including the Bosch Big Blue Trailer. Milwaukee, Ingersoll Rand, Ridgid, Chicago Pneumatic, Hougen, Power Team and many others will have tents and tables set up as well. The event runs from 10:00am – 5:00pm or when people finally leave.
This is a great event for any one buying tools or just wanting to test out the new tools! Ohio Power Tool, already known for low internet competitive pricing, really blows it out for the tent sale. Lots of existing products are discounted for that day in addition to overall discounts given on all in-store orders. On top of the Ohio Power Tool discounts the vendors on hand have even more discounts in the form of promotions, instant rebates, free tools, tool trade-ins, etc. For instance, Bosch is offering $75 trade-in on any 18 volt, working or not, to upgrade to their new 18v lithium. That would put the new Bosch 18V compact drill at $129 and on top of that you would still get off an additional discount from Ohio Power Tool.
I’m sounding like a used car salesman now but it is definitely worth checking out if you want to get some really good deals on power tools or just get your hands on some of the new tools.

The Ingersoll Rand IQv Cordless power tool line has found a serious following among the automotive crowds and many others. These tools are engineered for use in professional shop and manufacturing facilities. The whole system is very intelligently designed with cheaper NiCd and Lithium batteries that work with each voltage of tools, all which share the single charger and flashlight that work with all of them.
The IQv charger automatically detects battery voltage and chemistry and chooses the correct charge algorithm. By reading the battery, the charger can optimize its charge to improve performance and longevity. The chargers renew feature deep cycle restores the battery to like-new condition and calibrates onboard battery electronics. For nickel-cadmium batteries, the renew feature eliminates memory effect, extending the usable battery life up to five times and significantly decreasing the number of replacement batteries over the life of the tool.
Previously these tools could only be purchase individually or with a single battery, charger and bag. The new Ingersoll Rand IQv Kit IQv144K however is much more robust. The kit includes the W150 3/8” impact, D550 drill, TL10 flashlight, 2 14.4V lithium ion batteries, BC10 universal charger and an Ingersoll Rand tool bag. Total cost on the kit is $398 which compared to buying the components (even with a W150 kit) would still be over $538. Check out all the Ingersoll Rand air & cordless tools at Ohio Power Tool.
