Today Ohio Power Tool called us because they had a special Milwaukee M18 demo tool on hand for one day, and thought we might want to see it. So we headed down to OPT, tried the tool out, and then stole it. This… is Coptool Special Coverage.

As many of you know this week (May 6-10) is National Safety Stand-Down Week! A big focus of this effort traditionally is on Fall Hazards and Fall Prevention, but for those not exposed to fall risk still a great time for employers to talk about safety hazards they face on the jobsite. Makita’s 16” Cordless Chainsaw was released over a year ago, and today it’s still one of the top professional cordless chainsaws on the market. As the debate between GAS and ELECTRIC chainsaws continues, we gave it to our friends at Aluhm & Arbor Tree Preservation to put it through its paces on the job site and decide if it deserves a spot on a professional tree truck. Only a few weeks ago we announced the launch of the Milwaukee M18 Threaded Rod Cutter 2872-21 with this post and video. We had only a little time with it before posting this intro and while we love tools and use lots of them, we are not qualified to give real user feedback on a Threaded Rod Cutter like this. We took this tool over to our friends at Mid-City Electric in their Pre-Fab Shop where they cut literally thousands of feet of threaded rod and that we knew were running the Dewalt 20V Threaded Rod Cutter DCS350 already.

We first found this tool at NPS 2018, and everyone was impressed with “the little cut-off tool that could.” And by that I mean, it could cut through all sorts of metal, tile, and construction materials, despite being on Milwaukee’s smaller 12V battery platform. Spinning at 20,000 RPMs, this flexible addition to the M12 family of tools is designed to be used with only one hand. It ships with a Carbide Abrasive blade, Diamond Tile blade, a metal cut off wheel, and a handy shoe guard complete with a dust collection port. (more…)

This is the Milwaukee’s M18 Super Sawzall. It arrived in 2018 with more power, more weight, and a new 12AH battery. It claims to match the power of a 15amp corded version. It features variable speed control in both the trigger and a separate dial, as well as on/off orbital cutting, increased stroke length, and a new LED light & rafter hook. (more…)

Milwaukee’s M18 3-in-1 Backpack Vacuum gives tradesmen a cordless vac that can be worn, hung, or carried around the jobsite. With only 76 decibels of noise, it’s also one of the quietest vacuums on the market. But don’t mistake the lack of noise for a lack of power. This vac boasts up to 2 times the suction power of competing models and is OSHA compliant for silica dust collection. Complete with a HEPA filter and heavy-duty attachments, this shop vac is ready for the toughest of job sites.
To test it out, we asked Eric from Mechanical Hub to spend some time with it on the job, before taking it apart with Kris, our tool technician at Ohio Power Tool. This is your Inside Look at the Milwaukee M18 3-in-1 Backpack Vacuum, model 0885-20. (more…)
