The Simpson Quik Drive System can be adapted to many different brands of drills, impacts and screw guns. This is the first time however there is a cordless solution with locking trigger adapted to drive screws just as fast as you would with a locked corded screw gun using Quik Drive. With Makita’s XSF03MB ($339) PushDrive technology the motor doesn’t spin until the fastener is engaged so the battery can last up to 40 sheets of drywall per charge, or roughly 1800+ screws with a 4.0Ah battery. Partner that with the Quik Drive Makita 18V PRO200 ($141) and you’ve got the full setup.
The local Simpson rep demoed this system using both #6 Drywall Screws DWC158PS ($59, box 2500) and the #8 Subfloor Screws WSNTL134S ($85, box 2000) but this setup should be compatible with any strip screws that fit the Quik Drive PR200. In our area you’ll find both the fasteners used for flooring applications but there are dozens of applications that going cordless would be a huge advantage.
Starting July 1 – Sept 30, 2016 there is an even better reason to buy as Makita is offering 2 free 18v batteries with 3 of their top selling kits that include the Makita 18V Screw Gun XSF03. The XT255MB ($399) includes the cutout tool and the XT256MB ($379) adds in a ¼” impact driver.
