We’re going to start this off with what we didn’t see at Milwaukee’s NPS18 event before jumping into all the good stuff. Of course everyone has a ton of wants, needs and guess on what new products are getting launched at these events but they can only do so much. Steve Richman, Milwaukee’s President got up and said the answer is YES we are going to make that; for pretty much any (logical) tool you are asking about just a matter of time. So For this year’s event no M18 tracksaw, no M18 trim routers, no cordless M18 framing nailer, no new M18 drain cleaning/plumbing, no M18 lawn mower and no revival of the Titan Workcarts. But we did see a ton of exciting stuff and PRE-SALE M18 Tools are already up!!!!
We’ve decided to play with the Makita XCV08Z AWS Bluetooth Cordless Vacuum and this 2.1 gallon dry dust vac really holds up to the Makita name. Running on two 18V Batteries and 36V of power, the strong brushless motor provides 74 CFM. It’s also electronically controlled to optimize battery usage to allow 50% longer run time than previous brushed dust collector models. You’re looking at 40 minutes on high and 75 minutes on low in a single charge. Continue reading →

As we speak Milwaukee is shipping their new line up of Carbide Circular Saw Blades for wood-cutting and fiber cement with polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tips which covers just about any size and application for construction. From 5-3/8” to 12” with basic rip blades to 100 teeth finish blades, they got all the bases covered. This is a very logical step for Milwaukee with what must be hundreds of thousands of circular saws, miter saws and hopefully someday they’ll have a table saw as well, all those saws need blades. It doesn’t make any sense for them not to have a premium blade lineup.
Over the last few weeks we have seen the launch of new battery technology from Metabo and Dewalt which puts new Amp/Hour ratings (used as an 18/20V) at 4.0Ah for slim, 8.0Ah for standard size and 12.0Ah for the large batteries. These launches come only days ahead of Milwaukee’s big 2018 New Product Symposium #NPS18 so we anticipate some news coming from the Red Camp as well. These new batteries are not just a little more runtime however we are seeing real increase of peak watt output!
Just announced Emerson (Parent Company of Ridgid) has just acquired the Tools & Testing division of Textron (Parent Company of GreenLee). For many years these iconic brands were focus exclusively on their respective trades Ridgid was synonymous with Plumbing Tools while GreenLee Electrician Tools. In recent years these once near monopolies have been the target for many brands to challenge; Milwaukee, Dewalt, Southwire – Maxis – Sumner, Current – Jackson, iTool, Wheeler Rex, among others have all been able to take chunks of business away with new tool innovations, more aggressive pricing and keeping ample stock. With both brands now part of the Emerson Family, will they be able to leverage them together to reclaim some lost ground? Continue reading →

We just received this Milwaukee PACKOUT sample case and challenge to use the accessories to do the #CarbideGaunet. While drilling through some nail embedded wood or rebar a few hundred time sounds like fun we really wanted to see if these could handle something a little more challenging, like getting into a safe! Certainly those have to be tough right, are these new accessories tough enough to drill thought the locking mechanism or cut through the entire safe?
