Another huge launch from Milwaukee Tool this week, stepping into a new category with a ton of applications for concrete and landscape professionals. Shocking to us this and other huge launches are all coming out before the big #NPS19 event which leads us to ask, what is bigger than these are they saving to launch at the event? This M18 Switch Tank System really is going to be a game changer and has a ton of very smart features. Of course being on one of the most popular battery platforms is a huge advantage over anything out now but they did some very smart things here including building the tanks & hoses to be completely self-contained so there is no chance of mixing chemicals anywhere in the tank, pump, hose or wand.
Basically there is one M18 Switch Tank Base and 3 tank options (pesticide, concrete chemical, water supply) depending on which tank you want first you’re looking at $399-$439 for the kit which includes 1x 3.0Ah battery (enough charge for 12 tanks). From there additional tanks are $149-$164 so it’s very easy to keep everything totally separate. Many of the Kits will be launching early March, Pre-Sale up on Ohio Power Tool M18 Tools page starting February 1st if not sooner. (more…)

Walking around the World of Concrete, it’s impossible to walk by this little guy without stopping to admire! We took a close look at the PC6004EC Highway Grinder and it truly is amazing. Designed for high production grinding/profiling of concrete and asphalt pavements. This 75,000lb (full water) tank cuts 50″ wide at a low 1315 RPM and a high 1900 RPM.
This kind of size and production requires 2 motors. The main engine, attached directly to the head, is a huge turbocharged 630HP diesel. Also, the Auxiliary turbocharged 148HP diesel engine located in the front, operates the hydraulics and drive. There are probably only a handful of people in the country that’ll ever buy one of these units but for us it is more about knowing Diamond Products is very serious about concrete cutting and grinding. They bring this same level of expertise to their smaller walk-behind saws and handheld saws as well.

We will continue to search out concrete tools and accessories to help our audience meet the upcoming OSHA Silica Dust standards, June 23, 2017. Cutting concrete outdoors with a gas cut-off saw and water hookup probably won’t change much however for indoor concrete cutting or dry cutting we will definitely see some new challenges. These new Core Cut C14 ($599) and C16 ($999) Concrete Saws are electric but offer serious power much closer to gas than we have seen in the past and can be used wet or dry. Many 14”+ electric saws currently don’t have water hookups or dust collectors and aftermarket attachments can be questionable. The new OSHA spec for dust collection require near HEPA filtration, automatic filter cleaning and 25 CFM per 1” of blade diameter in cutting. For a 14”saw that’s 350 CFM, you’re not going to find that at your local hardware store.

The new Diamond Products Cut Core 14” SLR Cut-Off saw 03853 is completely redesigned from the ground up. Tested to complete and out perform against the most common models of Husqvarna/Partner K760 and Stihl TS420 Cut-Off saws. The new Diamond Products SLR saw has a lot to prove if it plans of converting any of their faithful users. Launching officially at next week’s World of Concrete in Las Vegas thousands of professionals will have their opportunity to test it out and see for themselves.
