We’ve seen big demand in recent years for higher performance tools that are much smaller. We’ve seen the 12V tools get more powerful and the 18v tools get much smaller. Dewalt is jumping into the 18V compact brushless tools with a new Drill Driver and impact driver with a hammer drill, circular saw, oscillating tool and recip saw to follow in several months.
So how does power compare to their larger professional drills; 340 UWO with atomic vs 460 UWO (DCD792) or 820 UWO (DCD996). The tool weight of only 2.4 lbs puts it in range of Makita’s Sub-Compact 18V black tools or Milwaukee M12 Fuel tools, while the UWO conversion to ft lbs is not very clear this is certainly the intended competition for the new Atomic lineup. Dewalt jumped right in with an impressive upgrade to their cordless woodworking arsenal, new brushless jigsaws (top handle & barrel grip) are a no brainer but also now had 5” random orbital sander, planer and trim router which we’ve found to be extremely handy cordless tools. None of these are new to the cordless world but for those on team yellow these are a very welcome addition. We are excited to get our hands on all of these, some launching pretty quickly, others early 2019. Check out the full Dewalt press release below, more info to follow!
