Can Milwaukee M18 Chain Saw 2727-21HD Replace Gas?

Launching very soon, July 2018, the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 16” Chain Saw 2727-21HD ($399) will be hitting the streets with the new 12.0Ah High Output batteries. The big question on everyone’s mind seems to be can this 18V cordless chain saw beat 36V, 40V, 54V, 60V, 80V but most importantly gas saws? Sure everyone would love to stop messing with gas engines and use a simple battery but a few important things have hindered them taking over the market. Most importantly Power, Price & Runtime! Milwaukee is not first to market here with a cordless chain saw that uses a tool battery but believe they can now address all 3 of these concerns. (more…)

Milwaukee NPS18 What is Coming & What We Didn’t See

Milwaukee NPS18

We’re going to start this off with what we didn’t see at Milwaukee’s NPS18 event before jumping into all the good stuff. Of course everyone has a ton of wants, needs and guess on what new products are getting launched at these events but they can only do so much. Steve Richman, Milwaukee’s President got up and said the answer is YES we are going to make that; for pretty much any (logical) tool you are asking about just a matter of time. So For this year’s event no M18 tracksaw, no M18 trim routers, no cordless M18 framing nailer, no new M18 drain cleaning/plumbing, no M18 lawn mower and no revival of the Titan Workcarts. But we did see a ton of exciting stuff and PRE-SALE M18 Tools are already up!!!!

Milwaukee M18 FUEL Cordless Mud Mixer 2810-22

M18 Cordless Mug Mixer 2810-22

When it comes to mixing small batches of drywall mud, mortar or even concrete there has always been a struggle to find the right tool for the right price. Yes you can get a dedicated corded mud mixer price range from $230 to $975 but many people simply use a hammer drill with chuck and burn the motor up pretty quickly. Until now there has not been a cordless solution but Milwaukee will very shortly have a cordless solution with the M18 FUEL mud mixer 2810-20 ($199, bare) & 2810-22 ($349, kit)!

M18 2810-22 Gear Box

This unit is specific for the application with a massive gearbox and low RPM range needed for proper mixing. The handles adjust to various positions to maximum user comfort. We expect to see these units out in September but could hit back orders pretty quickly if they are as popular as we think they could be. Check out all the Milwaukee M18 Cordless Tools at Ohio Power Tool and give the guys there a call 800-242-4424 if you have any questions on any Milwaukee Tools. For more on the 2810-22 Mud Mixer units check out the full Milwaukee press release below.

Milwaukee Tool New Product Symposium NPS17

Milwaukee tool NPS17

Well 2017 marked the 10th year of Milwaukee Tool New Product Symposiums and the anticipation was very high. With tool competitors launching technologies with higher voltages, new cells and multiple batteries the expectation was that the red team might have something big to announce but alas no big news on the battery tech. When pressed why they have not gone to 20700 cells for their batteries the general consensus was the cells don’t offer enough performance gain over the 18650. Perhaps holding out for the new 2170 cells but that means at least another year before we might see something.

Tools we didn’t see: M18 track saws, M18 chainsaws, M18 table saws, M18 battery bank power stations or M18 (6”, 7”) grinders. Perhaps these are waiting on the new battery tech to catch up or maybe duel batteriers but certainly something has got to be in the works on these fronts. That being said we did see a ton of very exciting tools and accessories targeting many different trades and users. (more…)

Milwaukee M18 FUEL Metal Circular Saw 2782-22

M18 FUEL Metal Circular Saw

The Milwaukee 8” metal saw 6370-21 ($299) changed the game many years ago and made the circular saw tailored for metal cutting the preferred choice for make cutting pipe, conduit, etc. When Milwaukee M18 launched it was not long after the cordless M18 brushed model 2682-22 ($349) was launched in a more compact 5-3/8” design. Fast forward a few years now and the demand for more power, runtime and option for large capacity lead to the new M18 FUEL 2782-22 ($399) & 2782-20 ($199, bare) which we expect to see in April. Cordless Circular Saws – M18 vs FlexVolt vs Makita

Saws Dewalt v Makita v Milwaukee

The circular saw has been around for many years and offers many unique advantages. They are one of the most powerful handheld tools you can own for cutting, similar power to a small table saw but fits in your hands. Overall, they are easy to use, affordable, portable and practical for so many applications. In the days of NiCd battery technology they simply could not build a competitive pro grade circular saw to keep up with corded, however over the last several years, we’ve seen changes in cordless batteries with increased amps, performance, sizing, costs, etc. With the industry demanding longer lasting batteries and corded performance, we wanted to see how these cordless 7-1/4″ circular saws from the top professional brands would perform.

  • MakitaXSH01Z ($199.95 bare) XSH01X ($399 w/3.0) – 36V, brushed, 10 Ah (5.0 x2), 18650 battery cells
  • Milwaukee2731-20 ($229.95 bare) 48-59-1890PC ($249 w/9.0) – 18V, brushless, 9.0 Ah, 18650 battery cells
  • DewaltDCS575 ($179.00 bare) DCS575T2 ($355 w/ 2.0) 54V, brushless, 9.0 Ah, 20700 battery cells

Milwaukee 9.0Ah MADNESS

M18 High Demand 9.0Ah

For November & December there are some very aggressive Milwaukee Deals designed specifically to put M18 9.0Ah batteries into your hands. The 48-11-1890 sells for $200, it’ll probably stay that price all next year and we think it’s well worth it but you’d be crazy to buy one. Only a few years ago Milwaukee was a small fry in the cordless game, they got aggressive to become top potato these days but competition is now heating up with many others. Milwaukee solution, 9.0Ah batteries for EVERYONE!!!

M18 FUEL Miter Saw

One great way into a couple larger batteries is the M18 FUEL miter saw 2734-21HD ($599), which will come with 1 battery normally but for the next couple months or until they all sell out you’ll get 2x of the 9.0Ah monsters. Weight obviously plays no part in how this tool functions so it’s a great partner for the bigger batteries but honestly this saw will work for hours on even a 5.0Ah. (more…)
