We’re going to start this off with what we didn’t see at Milwaukee’s NPS18 event before jumping into all the good stuff. Of course everyone has a ton of wants, needs and guess on what new products are getting launched at these events but they can only do so much. Steve Richman, Milwaukee’s President got up and said the answer is YES we are going to make that; for pretty much any (logical) tool you are asking about just a matter of time. So For this year’s event no M18 tracksaw, no M18 trim routers, no cordless M18 framing nailer, no new M18 drain cleaning/plumbing, no M18 lawn mower and no revival of the Titan Workcarts. But we did see a ton of exciting stuff and PRE-SALE M18 Tools are already up!!!!

The new M12 FUEL generation 2 Drill/Drivers, Impacts & Combo Kits are now coming in! Back in 2013, Milwaukee first introduced their M12 drilling and driving solutions, which set the benchmark for the sub-compact industry in a couple ways:
- They utilized the most advanced POWERSTATE™ Brushless technology available at the time, reshaping perceptions of performance and capabilities of 12V tools.
- They were the most compact in their class.
Milwaukee continues to demonstrate their market leadership position by driving the 12V technology and as they always say, leaders never rest of their laurels. As technology evolves, they’ve constantly drive for new ways to push forward the M12™ drilling and driving experience. Their technology and capabilities reached new heights since 2013 and come January 2018, they’re setting the benchmark once again with the next generation of M12™ drill and driving.

There has not been much innovation in the soldering iron category recently however that is all about to change with the launch of the Milwaukee M12 Cordless Soldering Gun 2488-20 ($69, bare) and 2488-21 ($129, kit). With this tool you get 18 second heat up time and up to 40 minutes runtime with an M12 Compact Battery which is pretty increasable. We had a brief chance to use this tool at the New Product Symposium, see video below, but it will be hitting the market this month (November).

Coptool had the privilege in touring Milwaukee’s Sawzall manufacturing facility in Greenwood Mississippi. We had the opportunity to see their manufacturing processes, printing capabilities, engineering processes as well as understand the culture in Greenwood. Produced in the same facility, we saw step by step, how their world class Hole Dozers were made and engineered. Being the first time Milwaukee invited media guest to Greenwood, Milwaukee’s president of Power Tool Accessories, Scott Griswold kicked off the event in style!

As Milwaukee Tool continues to expand upon their Hand Tool arsenal Chrome Socket Sets does seem like the next logical step. While these sockets sets are traditionally considered “mechanics tools” every electrician, plumber, HVAC, service tech and the list goes on, has a socket set in their bag or truck. Milwaukee’s new Contractor ratchet and socket sets, both SAE 48-22-9000 & Metric 48-22-9001 are designed for this market. The sets use a 3/8” ratchet with a pivoting head ideal for tight spaces and eight common deep sockets with some additional extensions/adapters. Priced at $69 each and should be here in April! (more…)
