Since the Ridgid SeeSnake was invented there has been the desire when you find a blockage, you use that pricey piece of equipment to just nudge it loose, right? The camera head is already there, why not just jab it a few times, if that doesn’t work, maybe just really give it some good hard pokes… oh no the camera went dark… It’s true and it’s happened many, many times before. Typically most only make that mistake once, then have much more respect for their camera as strictly a diagnostic machine. That all changes today, with the addition of Ridgid’s new FlexShaft!

If you’ve cleaned drains at any point in your career in the last 100 years, changes are good you are familiar with Ridgid Drain Cleaning machines. There also have not been a lot of design changes in recent years, however we are now seeing a little competiton coming from Milwaukee Tools and other cordless tool brands looking to take a piece of the pie. Ridgid of course has a big leg up here with many years of product development so we are excited to see a totally new design, built on what’s worked for them, with the K-5208 Section Drain Cleaners, available as machine only 61688, with 4x 15’ cable 61692 or 7x 15’ cables 62378. So how does this stack up to other Ridgid Dain Cleaner options?

For the RIDGID 2017 Calendars they have made the change to feature 12 artist’s renderings of Pipe Wrenches instead of the iconic Pinup Girls. I like the graphics, if the calendar were a new promo idea from a company I would think it was pretty cool idea. Of course going from a 50 year tradition for beautiful ladies on the wall of the shop to drawings of pipe wrenches is not going to sit well with everyone. This has been a change several years coming and with the move towards a more PC work place should not come as much of a surprise.

A couple years ago RIDGID launched their all in one RE6 solution for electrical trades to cut, crimp and knockout all from one tool. RIDGID of course has been the name brand for professional plumber tools but less well known to electricians for professional electrical tools, who might associate the RIDGID name with the home owner focused tools at Home Depot (a confusing distinction of a separate division, made by a different company).
Looking past the slow start for the Ridgid RE6 Tool Lineup, from the feedback we have received from professional electricians now using this RE6 tool on a daily basis is that they love it. Simplifying these 3 jobs into 1 very portable package means the right tool is close at hand. Now they are updating the package and offering a pretty attractive promo through end of June 2016.

It’s that time of the years again for Ridgid’s Spring Fling (see full PDF here) which will run February to April 2016. It’s pretty typical stuff if you’ve seen previous Spring Flings but looks to be a little more simplified. For the Full Size SeeSnake Camera System with a 200’ reel and large monitor you will get a Scout Locator ($1348) for FREE. The SeeSnake systems with a smaller RS6 Monitor, if you add on a drain cleaner you still qualify for the FREE Scout Locator. We like the option here to build the package that makes the most sense for you. (more…)

Starting now and going through September Ridgid has come out with 2 terrific deals on a couple of their more popular items. We see far less deals and promos from the Ridgid Pro Tool side so we are also happy to see nice spiffs like these come though.
For the Ridgid ProPress Tools if you purchase select models of 200-B, 210-B or RP340 you can receive 2 18V batteries ($240 value). See the Full Mail-In Rebate HERE. While these kits do come with batteries already we’ve rarely ever heard anyone say they couldn’t use more. These are also the same batteries used with the SeeSnake Camera systems. (more…)

Last September Ridgid launched the innovative RE 6 Tool System for Electricians which can cut cable up to 750 MCM (Cu/Al), crimp without needing dies and punch holes into electrical boxes up to 3.5”. While Ridgid has made a name for themselves with innovative products in the plumbing and mechanical trades they have always had a much smaller offering for professional electricians. While the Ridgid RE 6 had great response and a lot of interest, the price has been user’s main objection.
Many people looking for a new tool simply didn’t need to replace all 3 tool at once so there was not an immediate saving vs buying just a new less expensive single function tool which might need replaced, like a GreenLee Die-Less Crimp ($3699), GreenLee Cable Cutter ($1349) or Milwaukee M18 Knockout Set ($1549). For the time being, at least until end of June, the new RE 6 kits drop in price, $800 drop for the 3 Head kit, $600 on 2 Head Kits and $400 for single head kits.

For cutting and beveling steel pipe onsite there are a couple ways to go about it however no process is going to be faster, cleaner and more accurate for larger diameter pipe than using these Ridgid tools. The new Ridgid B-500 Portable Beveller 49298 ($3046) puts a perfectly 37.5 ° bevel on a 4”-12” pipe in under 2 minutes. You can also get 30 or 45 degree bevels cutting heads if needed. This is a very easy tool to setup and operate however it does require a clean strait cut on the pipe so the Ridgid Pipe Cutter 258 for 2.5”-8” 50767 ($2937) or Ridgid 258XL for 8”-12” 58277 ($3049) is going to be the best option to ensure the cut is perfectly even.
